Who is eligible

To get a New Zealand Visitor Visa (Temporary Resident Visa), you must provide relevant documents which show the temporary purpose of your visit to New Zealand. Typically, you may require the documentation listed below.

Documents you will need

Application Form: Form INZ 1017 Application for Visitor Visa. This form needs to be duly completed and submitted for the purpose of getting a visitor visa.
Sponsorship Form (if applicable): Form INZ 1224 Sponsorship Form. This form is required if you are being sponsored by a New Zealand resident or organization.
Passport: Your passport must be valid for the duration of your stay in New Zealand and should have at least one blank page available for the visa. It should be valid for a minimum of 6 months after the date of application. Include copies of any previous visas or stamps if applicable.
Photographs: Provide two recent passport-sized photographs that meet the New Zealand visa photo specifications. Your face should be clearly visible and the background must be white or light-coloured.
Proof of Identity: In certain situations, you may be asked to submit extra identity documents like a national identification card.
Visa Fees: You are required to pay the visa application fee. Currently, this entails a fee of NZD 211 for an online application (please check the latest update). The payment can be made online or at a visa application centre (VAC).
Travel Itinerary: A comprehensive plan that covers the tentative dates of travel, a flight reservation, accommodation in New Zealand, and estimated expenses related to activities in New Zealand. It’s recommended to book refundable travel tickets that don’t incur a penalty, as some applicants prefer to provide this only after their visa is approved.
Letter of Invitation (if applicable): If you are travelling to see a friend, relative or business associate in New Zealand, that person should send you a letter of invitation.
Proof of Financial Support: You need to demonstrate that you have enough funds for your stay in New Zealand, depending on the duration, destination and type of visit. Documents include bank statements (generally the last 3-6 months), pay slips or salary slips, tax returns/proof of income, and a sponsorship letter from a host in New Zealand (if they are covering your expenses).
